Term 3, Week 8

Only Jake was able to recite this week's poem from memory! Well done! Second (and last) chance next week for all the kids who either chickened out or didn't succeed this week.

Congratulations Simon! Winner of this week's dictionary champs!

This week's memory poem:

Whale-Farming

The whale is found in seas and oceans,
Indulging there in fishlike motions,
But Science shows that whales are mammals,
Like Jersey cows, goats and camels.

When undisturbed, the whale will browse,
Like camels, goats, and Jersey cows,
On food that satisfies its tongue,
Thus making milk to feed its young.

Asking no costly hay or oats,
Like camels, Jersey cows and goats,
The whale glides, using its skill,
To catch each day one million krill.

What if our milk came from the sea?
Who would that brave dairy-farmer be?
How would he milk them early dawn,
Then herd them back where they belong?
